Nicklaus Children’s Hospital

Project Description

The new 127,000 sq. ft. surgical tower at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital features includes cutting-edge operating suites, virtual and augmented reality surgical planning, and expanded pre- and post-op care areas—all constructed above the existing Emergency Department in the heart of the hospital’s Miami campus. Due to the active occupant status of the building, this project required extensive communication and coordination with the project teams. Despite its challenges, Fire Seal provided quality spray-applied fireproofing as a part of the 213,000 sq. ft. expansion designed to support advanced pediatric surgical care. Working with Brasfield & Gorrie, Fire Seal applied GCP Monokote MK-6/HY to structural steel to meet fire-resistance requirements across all four floors of the tower.
